I haven’t posted anything new in a while to the Make Money on X series because I have been looking for helpful information to gather. One topic that is new that has come out of the last week is the H-1B visa argument. Elon is in favor of more H-1B while the MAGA movement is against more H-1B. This has caused a rift in the Republican party. This is the reason why it pays to be Nice on X. Look at Elon’s tweet below:
This post shows us that a large account can block or mute your account, and it will hurt your reach. It is a weird way to operate a social media site in my opinion and grants too much power to the larger accounts. I have grown my follower base up to 3700 in a few years. If a few large accounts don’t like what I say, they can just mute my account or block it.
Limits Conversations
This tactic also limits the conversations that can be had on X. In the past, I was trying to gain engagement by starting conversations with people I disagree with. I sought out large left wing accounts who I can discuss political issues with. Now if I do this and the account has no interest in discussion, they can simply block or mute me. This will hurt my reach and do nothing to their account. I personally will just stick to replying to people I agree with. The question format of a reply can be used. Hopefully, doing it this way will still spark engagement from larger accounts, but I don’t think it will be near as effective.
Be Nice
I now recommend you be nice until something changes. This honestly feels like a social media site that is worse than any other could be. I will be trying out others like Instagram while this is going on. X doesn’t feel like it is in a great place, so I recommend anyone trying out other platforms to get your message out.
