“New Trafford”: the £2bn stadium plan

United revealed the proposed location for their new 100,000-seat stadium on July 9: about 350 metres northwest of Old Trafford in Stretford, between John Gilbert Way, Wharfside Way, and Europa Way. The £2bn project, branded “New Trafford,” is designed with an umbrella-shaped roof incorporating solar power and rainwater harvesting, expected to take five years to build. The club projects it will create 48,000 local jobs and generate £7.3bn a year for the regional economy. Ederson deal in serious jeopardy

Around July 10, reports described the Ederson transfer as having collapsed. United’s medical team raised concerns during an England-based examination about a knee issue linked to a previous meniscus injury, complicated further by the fact part of his medical had to be arranged in the US after a late call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad following an injury to Wesley. A deal agreed back on June 2 now hanging by a thread.

Chasing Casemiro’s successor: Bruno Guimarães

United were reported to be in advanced talks to sign Newcastle captain Bruno Guimarães for around £69m, a move said to be personally recommended by Casemiro himself as his long-term successor, though renewed Real Madrid interest threatened to complicate it. Carlos Baleba (Brighton) and Manu Koné (Roma) remained on the midfield wishlist as alternatives if it fell through.

Alex Scott pursuit stalls
