United have finally sorted their training kit sponsor, and it’s a big one. The club confirmed on Tuesday, August 4, that Betway is coming on board as Official Principal Partner and Exclusive Global Betting Partner from the start of the 2026/27 season, ending well over a year of the training gear going unbranded since the previous deal with Tezos ran out.
What the deal covers
The Betway logo goes on the training kits for both the men’s and women’s teams, and the brand also gets prominent boards around Old Trafford and the Progress with Unity Stadium on matchdays. Reports put the deal at around £20m a year, which would make it the biggest standalone training kit or shirt sleeve partnership in world football. Whatever you think of a betting firm plastered across the training range, there’s no denying the number is a serious one.
Why it took so long
United went the entire 2025/26 season without a training wear sponsor after the Tezos agreement expired in June 2025. Rather than rush into a cut-price deal, the club held out for a proper offer, and it looks like that patience paid off. Getting Champions League football back at Old Trafford this season clearly helped the numbers too, with sponsors willing to pay more for a club back on the European stage.
Why it matters for United
Every commercial pound counts given how tight things have been run under INEOS since they took control of football operations, and a deal of this size is a genuine boost heading into a season where Michael Carrick needs the squad backed properly in the market before it shuts in September. It won’t fix results on its own, but a record training kit deal landing the same week the club is trying to sort a new Women’s head coach and shift a few fringe players shows there’s still plenty of pulling power at Old Trafford, on and off the pitch.
